The judiciary stands as an irreplaceable institution for upholding constitutional order and protecting citizens' fundamental rights, Governor Uba Sani has argued. He said the courts serve as guardians of fairness, due process, and social balance.

During times of national crisis and uncertainty, Sani noted that Nigerians look to the courts for hope. "It is often to the judiciary that citizens turn for reassurance that justice, fairness, and reason shall ultimately prevail," he said.

Sani made these remarks on Monday. He was speaking at the commissioning of the Justice Muhammadu Bello Bar Centre in Kaduna.

According to the governor, the independence and integrity of Nigeria's justice sector cannot be sacrificed. "The institutional strength of the justice sector must never be compromised," he stressed.

His government recognizes how crucial courts and lawyers are to democracy, he told the gathering. They sustain stability, encourage peace, protect rights, and settle disputes between citizens.

Sani pledged continued backing for projects that improve judicial facilities and access to justice. His administration supports efforts to boost the skills of legal professionals across the country.

Without a strong rule of law, societies cannot achieve real development, the governor warned. "No society can attain sustainable development where the rule of law is weak," he noted.

Sani praised this year's Law Week theme: "ACTIVATE! Empowering Lawyers in the Digital Age." He called it both timely and deeply significant for the profession.

Technology and artificial intelligence are transforming the world at an unprecedented pace. These shifts are reshaping how economies work, how governments function, and how legal practice operates.

The legal profession must not simply react to these changes, Sani argued. Instead, lawyers should lead the way in shaping how technology develops.

Young attorneys today need both technical skills and legal knowledge, he said. They must embrace innovation while protecting the profession's moral standards.

Lawyers must stay intellectually sharp and aware of global trends, Sani added. Honesty and ethical conduct matter more than ever in a fast-moving, digital world.

"In an era increasingly defined by speed and digital disruption, integrity, discipline, and ethical restraint have become even more essential," Sani stated.

Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, also addressed the event. He called the Bar Centre's opening a powerful symbol of Nigeria's legal profession.

Fagbemi commended Sani for backing the rule of law in Kaduna State. The governor's support was vital to completing the Bar Centre project, he noted.

Fagbemi paid respects to the late Justice Muhammadu Bello, a former Chief Justice of Nigeria. He described Bello as a symbol of judicial honesty and brilliant legal thinking.

Justice Bello's impact on Nigerian law remains significant, Fagbemi said. His legacy continues to guide the profession.

Fagbemi urged that the Bar Centre serve as more than just an office building. It should be "the intellectual heartbeat of the legal community," he said, and a space for lawyers to deepen their skills.
