Governor Ododo Vows to Prevent Recurrence of Kogi Attack, Offers Condolences

Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi has vowed to take decisive measures to prevent a recurrence of the tragic attack in Agojeju-Odo community in Omala Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

The attack, which took place on April 4, resulted in the deaths of 25 people and left an unspecified number of others wounded.

Governor Ododo expressed shock and sympathy over the incident and promised immediate intervention to address the situation.

He also condemned the attack and promised that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.

“I am assuring the citizens that the perpetrators of the dastardly act will be brought to justice soon.

Already, security agencies are on the trail of the assailants whose acts of mindless cowardice resulted in the destruction of lives and property in the area,” Ododo said.

The governor has dispatched a delegation led by the state Deputy Governor, Elder Joel Oyibo-Salifu, on a condolence visit to the affected area.

He also acknowledged the efforts made by the state government to maintain stability in Omala LGA, noting that the recent escalation of the conflict was a setback.

Governor Ododo announced plans to deploy a detachment of the recently established Metropolitan Quick Response to the area to enhance security measures.

He also offered condolences to the families of those killed in the attack and promised support for those injured and others whose houses were destroyed.

The attack reportedly came in retaliation for the killing of six herders by local residents.

The governor’s swift response to the attack and his commitment to preventing a recurrence demonstrate his administration’s determination to ensure the safety and security of the people of Kogi State.

The deployment of additional security forces to Omala LGA and the promise of support for the victims and their families are crucial steps towards restoring peace and stability in the region.

The incident underscores the importance of effective security measures and community engagement in addressing conflicts and preventing further loss of life and property.

As the government works to bring the perpetrators to justice and address the underlying causes of the conflict, the people of Kogi State can take some comfort in knowing that their leaders are taking proactive steps to prevent a recurrence of such tragic events.
