Governor Idris Praised for Sponsoring SUBEB Officials’ Training in Rwanda

Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board (KBSUBEB) permanent board member 1 and coordinator of Kauran Abdullahin Gwandu (Danmalikin Dakingari), Alhaji Umar Maigandi Garima, has commended Governor Nasir Idris for sponsoring 17 KBSUBEB members to a training in Rwanda.

The training focused on the sustainability of girl-child education and Almajiri known as Tsangaya school under the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) program.

The five-day training in Kigali, Rwanda, aimed to support Governor Idris’ efforts in tackling both girl-child education and Tsangaya school.

The KBSUBEB, under the leadership of Chairman Prof Khalid Jega, selected four major Qur’anic schools in Yauri, Birnin Kebbi, Zuru, and Argungu to pilot the integration of Western education into the curriculum.

The Kebbi State government, through SUBEB, plans to invest approximately N 1 billion to modernize the pilot Tsangaya schools, ensuring the sustainability of the training program under BESDA.

The board has also identified 40 schools from each of the 21 local government areas in the state to promote both girl-child education and Almajiri education.

These students will be enrolled in the four selected pilot schools and receive a Western education.

The training in Rwanda, as well as the efforts of Governor Idris and the KBSUBEB, demonstrate a commitment to improving the quality and accessibility of education in Kebbi State, particularly for marginalized groups such as girl-child and Almajiri students.
