Governor Adeleke Establishes Panel to Investigate Oyetola’s Contracts in Osun State

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has recently established an eight-member panel to investigate the contracts awarded by the administration of his predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola.

The panel will be responsible for implementing the recommendations of the original contract review committee and the subsequent white paper approved by the State Executive Council.

The move comes after the governor set up a contract review committee shortly after assuming office in November 2022.

The panel’s terms of reference include enforcing the recommendations in the committee report and white paper, ensuring the prosecution of culprits through relevant agencies, and implementing all institutional recommendations to prevent the recurrence of distortions in contract award and management.

However, the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tajudeen Lawal, has criticized the establishment of the implementation committee, calling it a ploy to cover up mismanagement by the present administration.

Lawal accused Governor Adeleke of awarding state road/flyover contracts to his brother and nephew without following due process, suggesting that the creation of the panel is an attempt to justify these actions.

The opposition party has been vocal in its criticism of Governor Adeleke’s administration, accusing it of perpetrating fraud against the state in the name of legacy projects.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the implementation panel will proceed with its mandate and whether it will successfully address the concerns raised by the opposition.
