Gov. Soludo Reveals Political Influence on Infrastructure Development in Anambra State

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State made a surprising revelation about his approach to infrastructure development in the state.

He shared that his decision to provide basic public infrastructure and social amenities in some areas of the State is influenced by politics.

During the inauguration of 12 km of roads in the Okpoko area of the State, Governor Soludo shared his experience with a federal lawmaker representing the area, who was in the opposition party at the time.

He disclosed that he initially refused to construct a road in the community because of the lawmaker’s political affiliation.

The turning point for Governor Soludo came when the same lawmaker, Noble Igwe, joined his party and became a mainstream member.

As a result, the Governor listened to his concerns and decided to repair the road in question, known as Nwokedi Street.

According to Governor Soludo, being in the opposition limits one’s ability to be heard and influence decision-making.

He emphasized the importance of being in the “bedroom” with the ruling party to have a say in the development of the state.

He urged the people to support his government, saying that even if there is no money in Anambra, he would not mind using all the available funds to develop Okpoko.

Governor Soludo’s statement has sparked debate and criticism from various quarters. Critics argue that his approach to infrastructure development is based on political patronage rather than the needs of the people.

They contend that such an approach could lead to the neglect of certain areas, which may not align with the ruling party’s political interests.

On the other hand, some supporters believe that Governor Soludo’s statement is an honest reflection of the realities of politics.

They argue that it is not uncommon for politicians to prioritize the needs of their supporters and party members.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s revelation about his approach to infrastructure development in Anambra State has raised important questions about the role of politics in the provision of basic public infrastructure and social amenities.

While his statement has sparked debate and criticism, it also offers a unique opportunity for further discussion on how to ensure equitable development in the state, regardless of political affiliations.
