Gbong Gwom Jos Calls for Action as Farming Season Commences Amid Insecurity

Amidst the commencement of the farming season in Plateau State, the Gbong Gwom Jos and Chairman of the Plateau State Council of Chiefs, Jacob Buba Gyang, has voiced his apprehension over the ongoing attacks in the state.
During the launch of Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s Tin City Metro buses in Jos, Gyang urged the governor to take immediate action to ensure the safety of lives and property, particularly for rural residents who depend on agriculture for their livelihoods.
Gyang expressed his concern that the prevailing insecurity could disrupt farming activities, potentially leading to a food crisis.
He highlighted the fear among farmers that prevents them from working their fields, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to address the insecurity in certain rural areas of the state.
The call for action comes as the farming season begins, with the state’s agricultural sector facing significant challenges due to the ongoing security issues.
The Gbong Gwom Jos’s appeal underscores the importance of a secure environment for the agricultural community, which is critical for the state’s food security and overall economic well-being.
Governor Mutfwang, in response to the concerns raised by the Gbong Gwom Jos, has been urged to take immediate steps to address the security challenges facing the state.
This includes implementing measures to protect farmers and their livelihoods, as well as ensuring that the agricultural sector can operate without fear of violence.
As the farming season progresses, the Plateau State government’s response to the security situation will be closely watched, with the hope that swift action can mitigate the risks posed by insecurity and ensure a successful harvest for the state’s agricultural community.
