Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour: ‘Peter Obi is the Leader Nigeria Needs, Not the Politician We Need for Us

In an appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast, the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate for the 2023 Lagos State gubernatorial election, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, shared his thoughts on the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Rhodes-Vivour praised Obi as the leader Nigeria needs, citing his integrity and commitment to the nation’s progress.

However, he pointed out that Obi may not be the type of politician required to navigate the complex political landscape of the country.

The LP chieftain emphasized that Obi’s approach to politics is different from the norm, stating that he does not engage in vote-buying, which is a common practice in Nigerian politics.

Rhodes-Vivour asserted that Obi’s victory in Lagos during the presidential election was achieved without resorting to such tactics.

The candid comments from Rhodes-Vivour shed light on the diverse opinions within the Labour Party regarding the leadership style of Peter Obi.

While acknowledging his potential as a leader, Rhodes-Vivour also highlighted the need for a politician who can effectively navigate the intricacies of Nigerian politics.

As the political landscape in Nigeria continues to evolve, the Labour Party and its members are striving to strike a balance between idealism and pragmatism in their pursuit of a better future for the nation.
