Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney-General of the Federation, has clinched the African Democratic Congress governorship ticket in Kebbi State. His emergence as the ADC's 2027 candidate was made public on Sunday through a statement from his media aide.

Mohammed Bello Doka announced the development in a press statement. According to him, Malami's selection came after extensive consultations with party chieftains and grassroots supporters across Kebbi.

Malami thanked the party leadership and members for backing him. "I sincerely appreciate the confidence and support shown by leaders, stakeholders, and supporters of the African Democratic Congress in Kebbi State," he noted in the statement.

Beyond the governorship race, ADC also fielded Senate candidates for three districts. Retired Major General Aminu Bande secured the Kebbi Central ticket, while retired Deputy Comptroller General Ibrahim Muhammad Mera got the northern district nomination.

Garba Danjuma Limi will fly the party's flag in Kebbi South Senatorial District. Party spokesman Doka said ADC remained devoted to delivering sound governance and development initiatives in the state.

Malami served as Justice minister under former President Buhari from 2015 to 2023. He'll face off against incumbent Governor Nasir Idris of the ruling All Progressives Congress come 2027.
