Laolu Akande, who once served as media spokesperson to former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has launched a scathing critique of President Bola Tinubu's inner circle. Speaking on Channels Television's Sunrise program, Akande claimed the president has surrounded himself with underqualified advisors.

"Second-class, third-class, low-level people" is how Akande described Tinubu's team. He argued this is preventing the president from receiving quality counsel.

Akande expressed frustration with what he called misplaced priorities in government. Critics talking about political opponents shouldn't distract from real governance issues, he suggested.

"Whoever is doing it is a criminal and the state exists to go after a criminal," Akande stated. He dismissed concerns about how opposition figures behave publicly as irrelevant.

In his words, Tinubu should focus on law enforcement and security. "There is a crime, there should be punishment," the former spokesman noted.

Akande pointed to the president's constitutional role as Commander-In-Chief. According to him, this title carries specific responsibilities for tackling threats to national security.

"There shouldn't be anybody that the president can't tackle for the security of the country," he emphasized. Akande acknowledged Tinubu's governance experience and track record.

He called on the president to step up his performance. "Mr President sit up," Akande urged in his closing remarks.
