Fidelity Bank PLC has recently conducted a food drive in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
This initiative, in partnership with the ABBASID Charity Foundation and Sen. Ahmed Wadada Aliyu (Sarkin Yankin Keffi), aims to distribute food packs to vulnerable members of the community, including women, widows, children, and those in dire need.
Victoria Abuka, the leader of Fidelity Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team, highlighted the initiative’s impactful nature.
Since its inception in April 2003, the Fidelity Food Bank initiative has distributed over 100,000 food packs across more than 100 communities in Nigeria.
This effort, which occurs on a monthly basis, targets families of five, providing them with essential sustenance where it is most needed.
Abuka emphasized the importance of collaboration in tackling food insecurity and expressed optimism for further progress through joint efforts.
She commended the support from local authorities and underscored the crucial role of such initiatives in addressing hunger across the country.
Hajia Hauwa Abbas, the Founder of Abbasid Foundation, noted the wide reach of the food drive, including states such as Jigawa, Zamfara, Zaria, Kebbi, Bauchi, Kano, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Abbas highlighted the bank’s commitment to giving back, particularly to women.
Sen. Wadada Ahmed, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, emphasized the continuation of his philanthropic efforts through the partnership with Fidelity Bank.
His wife, Zainab Wadada- Ahmed, spoke on his behalf, expressing the desire to help people, especially orphans and widows, in these challenging times.
A recipient of the food pack and Secretary of Frontline Women for Development in Nasarawa, Mrs. Susan Nyikwagh, praised the bank and its partners for their gesture.
She suggested that other banks follow Fidelity Bank’s example in addressing food insecurity in Nigeria.
