The federal government has successfully helped renew a Nigerian international passport for a citizen who faced delays in the application process. The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council announced the development in a statement on Saturday.
A Nigerian woman had shared her frustration on social media about prolonged hold-ups while trying to renew her passport through the Nigerian Immigration Service. After the government intervened, her passport was processed and issued.
"Good afternoon, everyone. I have to brag a little bit this morning.
We saw this randomly online. Yes, Nigeria works!", the woman, known on Instagram as EoNI, wrote in a post that quickly went viral.
The social media post sparked widespread reactions from other Nigerians online. Director General of PEBEC, Princess Zahrah Audu, responded by reiterating President Bola Tinubu's commitment to serving Nigerians both at home and abroad.
The intervention highlights efforts by the government to streamline passport renewal processes that have long frustrated citizens. It also signals attempts to improve service delivery at immigration agencies.
