FG Initiates Upgrade of Bauchi’s FMC to Teaching Hospital

The Federal Government of Nigeria has begun the process of upgrading the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Azare, Bauchi State, into a teaching hospital.

Dr. Jimoh Olawole Salaudeen, Director of Hospital Services at the Federal Ministry of Health, announced this during a visit to the Emir of Katagum, Alhaji Dr. Umar Faruq II.

Salaudeen explained that the purpose of the visit was to assess the current state of the FMC in preparation for its conversion to a teaching hospital.

The proximity of the Federal University of Health Sciences Azare (FUHSA) to the FMC will facilitate the transition and improve medical education and service delivery in the region.

The assessment will help the Federal Government identify any gaps in personnel, infrastructure, equipment, and land for future expansion.

The Emir of Katagum praised President Bola Tinubu for initiating the conversion, stating that it will significantly improve healthcare delivery to the citizens.

The upgrade of the FMC in Azare to a teaching hospital is a positive step towards enhancing healthcare services in the region.

The collaboration between the FMC and FUHSA will provide better medical education and healthcare to the people of Bauchi State and Nigeria as a whole.
