The Federal Government is bringing home another batch of Nigerians from South Africa on Friday. A third evacuation flight carrying 271 returnees will depart Johannesburg at midnight on Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement on Thursday.

Air Peace is operating the flight, which will land at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2026, according to ministry spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa.

The evacuation forms part of the Federal Government's push to enable willing Nigerians to return home voluntarily from South Africa. "The third evacuation flight operated by Air Peace will depart Johannesburg today by 12 midnight with 271 returnees," the statement read.

This latest group adds to hundreds of Nigerians already brought back under the government's voluntary repatriation scheme. The programme continues to facilitate the movement of citizens who wish to leave South Africa and return to Nigeria.
