FG applauds Oborevwori’s bold leadership in infrastructure drive, hails 2nd Niger Bridge progress

The Federal Government has commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his visionary leadership and proactive support in accelerating major infrastructural projects, particularly the Second Niger Bridge access road.   Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, during an inspection tour of federal projects in Delta State, singled out Oborevwori’s decisive actions — including gazetting the right-of-way and funding compensations — as key enablers of swift project delivery. “I want to commend Governor Oborevwori very highly. He gazetted the right-of-way from the Second Niger Bridge to Issele-Azagba, revoked affected properties, and is personally paying compensations,” Umahi told journalists in Asaba on Saturday. Umahi urged other state governors to emulate Oborevwori’s collaborative stance, emphasizing that such synergy with the Federal Government enhances timely project completion and boosts community development. Highlighting other state-led efforts, the Minister also praised the ongoing construction of three flyovers and road expansions in Effurun, describing the designs as innovative and “very beautiful,” even joking that he had “stolen” the design for future use. Earlier, while inspecting the Warri-Benin-Asaba Road, Umahi expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work on the Effurun-Sapele axis, urging contractors to speed up and meet deadlines, citing the importance of timely project delivery. Representing Governor Oborevwori, Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, reaffirmed Delta State’s commitment to sustaining a strong partnership with the Federal Government. He lauded the Ministry of Works for the 17.6km access road from the Second Niger Bridge into Delta and the planned rehabilitation of the 5km Summit Junction–Bridgehead corridor. Emu emphasized the transformative economic impact these infrastructure projects will bring once completed and thanked President Bola Tinubu and the Minister for their dedication to delivering them.
