Prof. Femi Otubanjo finds it baffling that Rotimi Amaechi is pushing for Nigeria's top office.

Speaking on Arise News TV, the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs research director questioned the former Rivers governor's credentials.

Amaechi leads the African Democratic Congress but lacks the ingredients for a presidential bid, Otubanjo insisted. "Nigerians treat politics like magic words," he noted during the interview.

According to him, Amaechi shouldn't have contested the ADC primary against Atiku Abubakar. "It was as if Amaechi wasn't even in the primary," Otubanjo remarked.

He expressed serious doubts about Atiku's chances in southern Nigeria come 2027. The ADC lacks strong grassroots support across the region, he argued.

"Atiku has no leg in the South," Otubanjo stated flatly. Only Amaechi represents the ADC there, yet the professor dismissed him as a liability.

"No prominent ADC member is from the South except Amaechi but Amaechi is not an asset," he concluded bluntly.
