FCT Minister Wike Warns Against Contract Negotiations Without Approval

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to the newly appointed Coordinator of Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD), Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, against negotiating with contractors.

During the inauguration in Abuja, Wike emphasized the importance of the coordinator’s role in coordinating activities in satellite towns, rather than engaging in contract negotiations.

Wike advised Zulkiflu to view his appointment as an opportunity to contribute to national development and effectively coordinate activities in satellite towns.

He stressed that the coordinator’s actions would speak for themselves and that the FCTA is working to ensure all satellite towns feel the impact of President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.

The minister highlighted ongoing projects in satellite towns and urged the coordinator to ensure that residents experience the impact of the new administration.

Additionally, Wike emphasized the need for proper sanitation in satellite towns and expressed his disdain for corrupt practices associated with the cleaning of these areas.

He announced that the FCTA would involve area council chairmen in vetting before payments are made to satellite towns cleaners.

Wike concluded by reminding Zulkiflu that his appointment is an opportunity to contribute to national development and drive the Renewed Hope agenda in satellite towns.

He warned that any actions contrary to this directive would not be tolerated and that he would take necessary action if any contract negotiations without approval were discovered.

The warning from the FCT Minister serves as a reminder of the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the management of public resources and the importance of adhering to proper procedures when engaging in public projects.
