FCT Minister Nyesom Wike: Some Kidnapping Incidents in Abuja Were Staged-Managed

At the closed-door session with Senators in the National Assembly, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, revealed that some reported kidnapping incidents in Abuja were actually stage-managed by people.

Despite the challenges, the minister also shared that the security situation in the FCT has experienced a significant improvement since the beginning of the year.

During the meeting, the former Rivers State Governor discussed the state of security in the FCT and the measures being taken to address it.

He emphasized that there has been a reduction in crime and criminalities in the capital city, with the arrest of two of the most wanted kidnappers in the territory.

While acknowledging that the FCT is not yet where it wants to be in terms of security, Wike assured that there has been marked improvement, as confirmed by the lawmakers.

He stressed that it is impossible to eradicate crime and criminalities in any society completely, but the goal is to limit or reduce the level of insecurity.

Wike also pointed out that some kidnapping incidents in the FCT were sometimes stage-managed by unscrupulous individuals.

However, he assured that security agencies would continue to ensure that kidnapped victims are released.

He cited an example of a housekeeper or driver who might plot to kidnap the child of their employer, emphasizing that it is difficult to prevent such in-house arrangements.

The FCT minister’s revelations highlight the need for vigilance and cooperation among residents in the fight against crime and criminalities.

As the security situation in the FCT continues to improve, it is crucial for all stakeholders to work together to ensure a safer environment for everyone.
