FCT Christian Pilgrims Board and NCPC Tackle Abscondment through Rigorous Screening

The FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board and the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) have joined forces to address the issue of abscondment during pilgrimages by implementing stringent screening processes.
In a recent interview, the Acting Director of the FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mrs. Rahila Isa-Baita, revealed that the organizations have introduced a rigorous screening process to minimize the occurrence of abscondment in the holy land.
According to Mrs. Isa-Baita, 230 intending pilgrims were initially screened, but only 207 were deemed eligible to participate in the pilgrimage.
The NCPC and the Board have been working together to ensure that only genuine pilgrims are selected by carefully examining their backgrounds, church attendance, and family ties.
The Acting Director emphasized the severe penalties that absconders and their sponsors face, including deportation and legal consequences.
She also expressed gratitude to the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, for his support and encouraged wealthy Nigerians to sponsor fellow Christians in fulfilling their spiritual obligations.
This year’s pilgrimage, which includes visits to Rome, Israel, and Jordan, is a carryover from the previous year.
The Executive Secretary of the NCPC and his team have visited Israel to ensure a smooth and seamless experience for pilgrims.
With preparations in place, Mrs. Isa-Baita is confident that the rigorous screening process will lead to a successful pilgrimage with no issues at the holy sites in Israel.
The collaboration between the FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board and the NCPC highlights the importance of ensuring the integrity and safety of pilgrimage experiences for all participants.
By working together to minimize abscondment, the organizations hope to create a more meaningful and fulfilling pilgrimage for those embarking on this spiritual journey.
