FCT Administration Sets Up Committee for Emergency Grain Distribution

The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has recently established a committee to manage the distribution of grains to residents in order to alleviate the hardships faced by the country.

This decision comes after the FCTA Agriculture Store in Abuja was invaded by local residents.

Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, the Minister of State, announced the committee’s formation during a meeting with the Area Council Chairmen on Wednesday.

She expressed her disappointment in the council members for not taking the first strategic stakeholders meeting seriously, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in implementing the President’s vision for the residents of the territory.

The committee, which was set up on Wednesday, is expected to execute its mandate within two weeks.

The directive came from the Presidency through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), with the goal of addressing the issue of food security and cushioning the hardships faced by the country.

President Bola Tinubu has been actively working to alleviate these challenges, as evidenced by the collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture to secure resources for distribution to the people.

The FCTA, under the leadership of Barrister Nyesom Wike, has been tasked with organizing stakeholders to ensure a transparent and efficient distribution process.

The committee members include representatives from various sectors such as Area Councils, FCT Emergency Management Agency, Traditional Rulers, and security agencies. Additionally, the committee will also involve Faith-based organizations, the National Union of Local Government Employees, Nigeria Red Cross Society, Women and Persons with Disability groups, Youth Associations, and the media.

With the support of all stakeholders, the FCT Administration aims to make a significant impact on the lives of its residents by providing much-needed resources during this time of hardship.
