The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has recently issued a warning to consumer goods stores, urging them to comply with the FCCPC Act and maintain transparency in pricing.
The Acting Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Adamu Abdullahi, emphasized the importance of adhering to the law to protect consumer rights and avoid potential penalties.
The FCCPC’s warning comes after a recent investigation that revealed instances of misleading pricing practices in some stores.
The commission discovered that some stores displayed lower prices on shelves but charged higher prices at checkout, which is a violation of Section 115 of the FCCPAct.
Abdullahi stressed that such practices not only harm consumers but also undermine the principles of fair competition and a healthy market environment.
The FCCPC is committed to ensuring that businesses comply with the law and that consumers are protected from deceptive practices.
The FCCPC’s warning serves as a reminder to businesses to prioritize transparency and fair pricing in their operations.
By doing so, they not only avoid potential penalties but also contribute to a healthy and competitive market environment that benefits both businesses and consumers.
