Ex-Driver Confesses to Murdering Elderly Couple and Stealing ATM Cards

The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria has arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of an elderly couple, Adebola Ezekiel, 80, and his wife, Abiodun Ezekiel, 79.

The gruesome incident took place at their residence in Apo Legislative Quarters in Abuja on April 1.

Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, revealed that the suspect, a former driver to the deceased couple, had confessed to the crime.

He admitted to gaining access to the house, slitting the couple’s throats, and stealing their phones and ATM cards.

The police had begun an investigation immediately and were able to apprehend the suspect in his hideout in Obajana, Kogi.

In a separate incident, two suspects were arrested by operatives from the Mabushi Division following a tip-off that the corpse of Bilkisu Mohammed was being discreetly conveyed.

The deceased had visited her supposed boyfriend, who had left her in the care of the female suspect.

The male suspect allegedly gave her non-prescribed drugs that led to her death.

Additionally, nine suspected armed robbers were apprehended by operatives from the Utako Division.

The suspects confessed to being part of a gang responsible for numerous robberies and other crimes in the FCT.

Four locally fabricated AK 47 rifles, three locally fabricated cartridge rifles, one English pistol, and one Dane gun were recovered from the suspects.

On April 9, three more suspected armed robbers were intercepted by police officers on a routine crime prevention patrol at the Durumi IDP Camp.

The suspects were found in possession of an English-made pistol and a Mazda vehicle with registration number RBC 117 EV.

All suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
