Eterna Plc Appoints Abiola Lawal as New Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer

Eterna Plc has announced the appointment of Abiola Lawal, an oil executive and renowned economist, as its new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer.

Lawal succeeds Benjamin Nwaezeigwe, who resigned from the position after two years of service to the company.

The Board of Directors thanked Nwaezeigwe for his significant contributions during his tenure.

Abiola Lawal brings over 25 years of management executive experience in private and publicly listed companies across diverse industries, with a proven record of positive performance in multiple C-Suite level roles both locally and internationally.

He has a strong background in the oil & gas sector and has demonstrated a consistent ability to deliver value in various aspects of executive management.

Lawal most recently served as Deputy Managing Director & Chief Financial Officer at Eroton Exploration and Production Company Limited.

He has also held various executive positions at Oando Plc, including Group Chief Strategy Officer during its transformation from a downstream to an upstream and Gas company.

During his time at Oando, he successfully implemented the Oracle ERP technology, which played a pivotal role in the company’s transformation.

In addition to his extensive experience in the oil & gas sector, Lawal has served in various executive roles in other companies, including CAMAC International Corporation and ExeQute Partners, Inc., both in Houston, Texas USA.

He also served as MD/CEO of eWorldtrack Mobile Technologies USA, a senior manager at SAP AG America, a Management Consultant and Transformation Manager at Abiola Lukman Lawal Ernst & Young LLP, and as a Senior Financial Analyst at The Walt Disney Corporation in California, USA.

Lawal has recently completed a Certificate course in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA.

He holds an MBA with a concentration in Finance, Strategy, and Technology from the University of California Irvine, where he was a Dean’s Fellowship Award Recipient.

He also graduated from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Economics with a Minor in Finance.

Abiola Lawal is a member of several professional associations, including the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria, African Energy Chamber, The Nigeria Economic Summit Group, and the National Association of Corporate Directors USA.

His appointment as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Eterna Plc is effective 15th of April 2024.
