Enugu Air issued a statement on Thursday following a runway incident involving one of its aircraft at Benin Airport. The airline confirmed that the plane experienced a runway excursion after touching down at the airport.
The carrier posted details on its X account shortly after the occurrence. "One of our aircraft operating into Benin experienced a runway excursion after landing today," the airline said in the notice.
According to the statement, all passengers and crew members left the aircraft safely without any injuries. "We confirm that all passengers and crew have safely disembarked and there were no injuries or casualties," the airline noted.
Enugu Air said it has secured the aircraft and informed the relevant aviation authorities as required by procedure. The airline added that it's currently assessing the plane and the circumstances that led to the incident.
The carrier warned that some flight schedules may face temporary disruptions as a result. Passengers whose journeys are affected will receive direct contact from the airline, along with necessary support, the statement promised.
The airline restated its commitment to safety across all its operations. "The safety of our passengers, crew, and operations remains our highest priority," it said, asking the public for patience as it continues investigating the matter.
