Entrepreneurship Key to Prosperity: Tunde Fanimokun Donates N3.5bn Center to YABATECH

Retired Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Civil Service, Chief Tunde Fanimokun, emphasized the significance of entrepreneurship in Nigeria’s prosperity and poverty reduction during the ground-breaking ceremony of a N3.5 billion Folawiyo Entrepreneurship Centre donated to the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) in Lagos.

Fanimokun highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship for individuals, states, and corporate entities, emphasizing that it is the key to achieving prosperity.

He also encouraged the youth to work diligently and take entrepreneurship courses seriously in institutions.

The Folawiyo Entrepreneurship Centre is dedicated to the late Chief Alhaji Wahab Folawiyo, the first Baba Adini of Nigeria, who employed Fanimokun as a director in his business group 40 years ago.

This gesture is in line with Fanimokun’s philosophy of philanthropy, entrepreneurship, and good governance.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Tunde Folawiyo, son of the late Chief Folawiyo, praised Fanimokun for his impact on his life and the diversification of the Folawiyo Group’s business.

He also expressed gratitude for the gesture, noting that it was not something the family was aware of beforehand.

YABATECH’s Rector, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, highlighted the significance of the donation in the institution’s pursuit of excellence and progress.

He emphasized that the Folawiyo Entrepreneurship Centre will serve as a hub for nurturing future generations of successful entrepreneurs who will contribute to Nigeria’s development.

The Folawiyo Entrepreneurship Centre’s establishment aligns with the Nigerian government’s efforts to promote entrepreneurship in the country.

It is a significant step towards empowering Nigerian youth with the skills and knowledge needed to become successful entrepreneurs and contribute to the nation’s economic growth.
