Edo Assembly Resolves to Serve Impeachment Notice to Deputy Governor through National Dailies

The Edo State House of Assembly has decided to serve an impeachment notice to the State’s Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, through national dailies after he refused to acknowledge the notice sent via personal service.

The Assembly commenced impeachment proceedings against Shaibu on March 6, with Majority Leader, Charity Aiguobarueghian, stating that the petition against the Deputy Governor was signed by 21 out of the 24 members of the Assembly.

During a recent plenary session, Speaker of the House, Blessing Agbebaku, announced that the Deputy Governor had refused to acknowledge the impeachment notice sent via personal service.

As a result, the Assembly resolved to serve the notice through national dailies, including The Observer.

This development comes as a significant step in the ongoing impeachment proceedings against the Deputy Governor, which have sparked debates and discussions among political circles in the state.

The outcome of the proceedings and the response of the Deputy Governor will undoubtedly have implications for the political landscape of Edo State.
