Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, has called on Nigerians to embrace hope, peace, and unity as they celebrate Easter, while also urging continued support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In his Easter message issued on Sunday, April 5, 2026, Elumelu emphasised the spiritual significance of the season, describing the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the foundation of hope, salvation, and reconciliation between God and humanity. He noted that Easter, which marks Christ’s resurrection three days after His crucifixion, remains the cornerstone of the Christian faith and a powerful symbol of victory over death and darkness.
According to him, “the resurrection signifies the triumph of life over death and light over darkness, offering mankind the pathway for redemption and eternal life.” He further stressed that through Christ’s sacrifice, humanity has been reconciled to God, describing it as the ultimate expression of divine love. “Easter reminds us of the boundless love of God, who sacrificed His only Son for the salvation of humanity. It is a season that calls for deep reflection, renewed faith, and total commitment to righteous living,” he stated.
The lawmaker urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayers for peace, unity, and national stability, particularly as the country gradually moves toward the 2027 general elections. He said, “At this critical time in our national life, we must be relentless in our prayers for unity, peace, and stability. We must commit Nigeria into the hands of God, particularly as we have entered another election cycle.” He also extended prayers for global peace, drawing attention to tensions in the Middle East and their broader implications on global and national economies.
Elumelu expressed appreciation for the efforts of President Bola Tinubu, voicing optimism that the administration’s good intentions would translate into tangible progress for the nation. He also commended the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, for his commitment to peace, security, and infrastructure development, particularly lauding the commissioning of the 4.8-kilometre Oko Phase 1 Road in Oshimili South Local Government Area as evidence of people-focused governance.
He called on the people of Delta State to continue supporting the governor in the implementation of his MORE Agenda, stressing that cooperation remains vital for sustained development. On behalf of his family and political associates, Elumelu extended his wishes to Nigerians, especially the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency and Delta State, for a joyful Easter celebration, urging them to remain steadfast in their faith, love, and unity for a better nation.l
