The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Yemi Oyeniyi, on Friday embarked on a statewide Easter visibility patrol, covering major highways and communities, while charging officers on professionalism, vigilance, and strict respect for human rights.
The statement was issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP. Bright Edafe, Delta State Command, noted that the patrol, which spanned key locations including Ibusa, Ogwashi-Uku, Ozoro, Oleh, Ughelli, Warri, and Effurun, formed part of the Command’s strategy to assess personnel deployment and strengthen security presence across the state during the festive period.
During the exercise, the police boss made several stops at checkpoints where he interacted directly with officers on duty, evaluating their alertness and operational readiness. He emphasised the importance of proactive and intelligence-driven policing, noting that early detection and swift response remain critical to effective crime prevention.
Oyeniyi also urged officers to maintain high standards of professionalism and civility in their interactions with members of the public. He stressed that discipline, respect, and integrity are fundamental to building public trust and achieving effective policing outcomes.
In a firm warning, the Commissioner cautioned against all forms of extortion and unprofessional conduct, stating that such actions would not be tolerated under his leadership.
Reaffirming his commitment to a people-oriented policing approach, the CP called on officers to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force in the discharge of their lawful duties.
