E.K. Clark breaks silence on NDDC’s IMC; says Buhari’s step in right direction

Elder statesman, Chief Edwin Kiagbodor Clark has break silence on the controversy following the inauguration of the Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) by President Muhammadu Buahri, saying it is a right step in the right direction.

The Ijaw National Leader who addressed Journalists at his country home in Kiagbodo when the IMC led by the Executive Director of Projects (Ag) Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, paid a condolence visit during the younger brother’s burial, Late Major Gen. Henry Clark (rtd) who died at the age of 71.

It could be recalled that different groups and some senators have faulted the composition of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) put in place by President Buhari, urging him to disband the IMC and inaugurate the substantive board.

But the Elder statesman and National Leader of the Niger Delta Region, Chief E.K. Clark weekend backed the installation of the Interim Management Committee, saying that it was good to overhaul the Commission and clear the mess before a new board could takeover in future.

Chief Clark said; the NDDC was constituted by law, from the then OMPADEC when I was an executive. It is important that the needs of people in the region are met this region is an oil producing region, a hub of the nation. I therefore urge the Interim Management Committee to do its job effectively and efficiently”.

“On behalf of the Pekederimor family, we appreciate the gratitude given to us by the NDDC. Death is inevitable, no one can question the will of God because we will all go one day, how it will come, no one knows so we leave it to God,I thank you very much for coming.” He said.

Earlier, the Acting Executive Director of Projects, NDDC, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh who led the Commission’s delegation to attend the burial ceremony of Chief E.k. Clark’s younger brother expressed the Commission’s delight over Clark’s contributions to the establishment of the NDDC, noting that they are aware of his great contributions to the Niger Delta region and the country as a whole.

“When we were informed that you lost your younger brother the person of Gen. Henry Clark (Rtd), I was immediately dispatched by the commission to spend time with you and give you a message from the commission.

“As a leader of the Niger Delta region, your contributions are remarkable and we are all aware of it. It’s important that we give honour to whom honor is due. Therefore, we appreciation your contributions and we as the interim management committee are bent on restructuring the commission.

Ojougboh expressed the Commission’s delight over Clark’s contributions to the establishment of the NDDC, noting that they are aware of his great contributions to the Niger Delta region and the country as a whole. He prayed that the Almighty God gives him and family the fortitude to bear the loss.
