Dino Melaye has praised Atiku Abubakar for winning the ADC's 2027 presidential ticket. The former Kogi West senator made the comments on X social media platform.
Melaye compared Atiku's primary victory to Arsenal's Premier League triumph. "Boss, you did it just like Arsenal," he wrote.
Tunde Ogbeha announced the election results on Wednesday night. Atiku secured 1,846,370 votes in the contest.
Two other candidates ran against him in the primary. Mohammed Hayatu-Deen garnered 177,120 votes while Rotimi Amaechi received 504,117 votes.
This marks another presidential bid for the former Vice President. He has contested for the nation's top job three times before—in 2007, 2019, and 2023.
The 2027 election will be his sixth attempt at the presidency. Atiku now carries the ADC's banner into the race.
Arsenal's recent success inspired Melaye's comment about the victory. The London club won its first Premier League title in 22 years after Manchester City drew 1-1 with Bournemouth on May 19.
