The Member representing the Ndokwa ethnic nationality on the Governing Board of DESOPADEC, Dr Charles Olisa, has inspected the ongoing construction of an assembly hall at Oduga Secondary School, Ushie, directing the contractor to ensure timely delivery and strict adherence to quality standards.

During the inspection on Thursday, Dr Olisa emphasised that the project must be completed by August 2026 and executed in line with DESOPADEC's contractual specifications and quality benchmarks.

Addressing the contractor and site supervisors, he stressed that the commission would not tolerate substandard work. He insisted that all projects funded by DESOPADEC must deliver value to the people of the oil-producing communities.

"This project is part of DESOPADEC's mandate to deliver tangible, high-impact infrastructure that will improve learning conditions and community life across the oil-producing areas," Olisa said.

"We expect contractors to maintain professional standards, meet agreed timelines, and ensure transparency throughout project execution."

He reiterated that value for money remains a key priority of the commission, noting that the Governing Board is committed to ensuring that every intervention translates into meaningful development for beneficiaries.

The inspection, according to him, aligns with the Governing Board's ongoing efforts to fast-track the delivery of impactful and sustainable projects across DESOPADEC's mandate areas under the leadership of Board Chairman, Olorogun Barr. John Nani, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Chief Festus Ochonogor.

Olisa further noted that the board's development drive is in line with the M.O.R.E. Agenda of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, which focuses on Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.

Upon completion, the assembly hall is expected to significantly improve the learning environment at Oduga Secondary School by easing congestion and providing a suitable venue for academic, social, and community activities.

The project is among several infrastructure interventions being executed by DESOPADEC to enhance educational facilities and improve the quality of life in oil-bearing communities across Delta State.
