...Says Delivery of Standard Projects Is Non-Negotiable

The Executive Director, Projects, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, has reaffirmed the Commission’s dedication to delivering high-quality projects that meet established standards. He also emphasized the unwavering support of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, in ensuring that all DESOPADEC projects align with their intended specifications and purpose.
Dr. Okorodudu made this commitment on Thursday, March 13, 2025, during a media briefing at Aboh, headquarters of Ndokwa East Local Government Area, after inspecting the newly completed Divisional Police Headquarters built by DESOPADEC. He stated that the project is designed to enhance the operational efficiency of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force stationed in Aboh.
Speaking on the importance of the project, he noted that the facility provides a holistic environment that will boost policing efforts. He strongly recommended that similar projects be replicated in all three Senatorial Districts of Delta State to reinforce security and peace, emphasizing that these are primary responsibilities of any government. He also commended Dr. Charles Olisa, the Member representing Ndokwa Nation on the DESOPADEC Board, for his meticulous supervision of the project, ensuring its timely and quality completion.
While inspecting the facility, Dr. Okorodudu highlighted that it encompasses several key features, including landscaping, fencing, a gatehouse, an armory office, an administrative block, separate male and female cells, and residential quarters for officers.
As part of the project inspection tour, the team also assessed the installation of solar-powered streetlights along Dr. Charles Olisa Street to Ilide and Pilot Road in Ashaka. Following this, Dr. Okorodudu and his team paid a courtesy visit to The Imperial Majesty, Obi of Aboh, Obi Oputa III, at his palace.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Okorodudu, accompanied by High Chief Victor Egbo, the Member representing Isoko Nation on the DESOPADEC Board, commenced inspections in Isoko Nation, starting at Oghara-Iyede, Isoko North LGA, where a functional solar-powered streetlight project was evaluated. He reiterated the Commission’s commitment to electrifying rural communities, citing the numerous socio-economic benefits of such initiatives. He also praised High Chief Victor Egbo for ensuring high-quality representation of Isoko interests on the DESOPADEC Board.
The team proceeded to Pastor Okpobor Road in Oghara-Iyede, where they assessed the ongoing drainage and road construction, as well as the landscaping and fencing of the Oghara-Iyede Community Hall. They also visited Ithirikpe Road in Oleh, where Phase 1 of a concrete pavement project is underway, and Odoro Road, where a fully completed 300kVA transformer installation and fencing project is set for commissioning.
Dr. Okorodudu commended Chief Engr. Daniel Omoyibo, popularly known as Damotex, for initiating the transformer project, describing him as a strong pillar in the development of Isoko Nation and Delta State.
During the team’s visit to St. Michael’s College in Oleh, where classrooms, the Principal’s quarters, and the ICT lab are undergoing renovations, Dr. Okorodudu expressed dissatisfaction with the roofing quality. He immediately directed the contractor to return to the site and re-roof the structure in compliance with DESOPADEC’s job specifications. Emphasizing that substandard projects will not be certified, he reiterated that quality control remains a top priority for the Commission.
The inspection team included key officials from DESOPADEC, such as Engr. Tony Okuwe, Executive Assistant, Projects to the EDP; Engr. Friday Money, Head of the Works Department; Engr. Elliott Olokor, Head of Projects Monitoring & Evaluation (PME); Mr. Festus Ifowodo, Head of the Utilities Department; Arch. Oviese, representing the Housing Department; Engr. Evans Omene; and Engr. Mathew Onokpasa, Special Assistant to the EDP, alongside the DESOPADEC Media Team.
Dr. Okorodudu reiterated that DESOPADEC remains committed to strict supervision, transparency, and the timely delivery of high-quality projects that will enhance the well-being of communities in Delta State’s oil-producing areas.
