The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State has suffered another setback as Hon. Somadina Anwasia, a prominent party chieftain and former Deputy Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Area, officially resigned from the party.
His resignation, effective February 3, 2025, is in solidarity with Senator Ned Nwoko’s advocacy for the creation of Anioma State.
Anwasia’s exit comes just two days after Senator Nwoko’s defection from the PDP, signaling a growing wave of resignations by key stakeholders. His decision is expected to further reshape the political landscape in Delta North, as more party loyalists reconsider their affiliations.
A seasoned politician and retired military officer, Anwasia has been a central figure in Delta politics for nearly two decades. Since joining the PDP in 2007, he has held several strategic positions within the party and government, contributing significantly to grassroots mobilization and governance.
His resignation adds to the uncertainty surrounding the PDP in Delta State, as the party grapples with internal realignments ahead of the next political cycle.
