Delta PDP accuses APC candidate of having a hand in the death of its members in Sapele

By Akpos Oghenetega,

The Sapele Chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State has accused House of Assembly candidate of an opposition party, Sapele Local Government Area for allegedly having a hand in the death of two of its members during the presidential and national assembly election in Sapele.

Recall that Michael Chibueke and Jeffrey Otevane were shot to death by unknown gunmen during the last Saturday election at Amukpe area in Sapele, with two other electorates lying in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital.

The PDP leader while addressing a press conference at the party secretariat in Sapele called on the Nigerian Police and other security agencies to bring the perpetrator of the heinous crime to book, alleging that, “the candidate and his boy on the run shot late Michael Chibueke and Jeffrey Otevane to death and not unknown gunmen.”

The Party also noted that the Police statement in the media that the killers were unknown gunmen is a “blatant lie” stressing that the true position is that the Police has not made any arrest or carried out any investigations since the sad incident occurred.

According to the statement; “The people who committed this dastardly act and heinous crime are well known and have been so mentioned,” the chairman of the Sapele chapter of the PDP, Dr David Oghenekevwe, who addressed newsmen today at the party Secretariat along Ajogodo road, said.

The party said, the deceased persons Michael Chibueke and Jeffrey Otevane  are PDP members who had came to Ward 9, Unit 15 to cast their vote when they met their untimely death.

The Party then condemned the untoward behavior of the politician, calling for relevant security agencies to take action and bring the culprits to book.
