By Ovasa Ogaga,
Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, has said that Delta State health workers are among the most dedicated healthcare professionals in Nigeria and that the State Contributory Health Insurance Scheme is thriving because of the quality healthcare services provided.
Recall that the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, in a trending report raised an alarm that The Delta State Government’s efforts to enhance healthcare delivery are at risk due to the indifferent attitude of some health workers.
However, Delta State Commissioner for Health debunk the claims and reaffirm that Delta State boasts some of the most dedicated and highly skilled healthcare professionals in the country, noting that the recent reports suggesting that the nonchalance of some health workers is not a true reflection of state of things in the health sector in the state.
According to him, “Our healthcare workers are consistently sought after, both nationally and internationally, for their expertise and commitment to providing excellent medical care.
“It is important to emphasize that the Delta State Government has made significant investments in the healthcare sector, and the results speak for themselves. The Contributory Health Insurance Scheme, a flagship program, has been met with remarkable success.
“The growing number of new enrollees is a testament to the confidence that residents have in the quality of healthcare services provided under this scheme. Any suggestion that healthcare delivery in Delta State is being compromised is not only unfounded but also does a disservice to the hard-working professionals who tirelessly serve the people of Delta.
“Our health workers, across both public and private facilities, have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to improving the well-being of Deltans. They continue to perform their duties with professionalism and empathy, ensuring that all patients, regardless of their background, receive the best possible care. The Delta State Government remains proud of their achievements and will continue to support them in their efforts to provide world-class healthcare services.
“The Delta State Contributory Health Insurance Scheme remains a cornerstone of our healthcare delivery system, with its success evident in the increasing enrollment numbers. This growth reflects the positive impact the scheme has had on making healthcare more accessible and affordable for all residents. The government is committed to further enhancing this scheme to ensure that even more citizens benefit from its offerings in the years to come.
“In light of these facts, we urge the public to disregard any false narratives that seek to undermine the tremendous progress we have made in healthcare delivery. The Delta State Government remains dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare services, and we are confident that our healthcare professionals will continue to rise to the occasion. We thank all Deltans for their continued trust and support for the MORE Agenda as we work together to build a healthier state,” he added.
