Delta CJ pardons 13 inmates

The Chief Judge (CJ) of Delta State, Justice Theresa Diai, has granted clemency to 13 inmates in the five correctional centres in the state.

City & Crime reports that the CJ revealed this at the Ogwashi-Uku Correctional Centre during the final quarter of the correctional visit for the year, which spanned three weeks.

Justice Diai said those released were accused of offences like being members of unlawful societies, robbery, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit felony.

She said the reason to release them was based on the recommendation of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), who stated that they had no cases to answer.
