Delta civil society Day: Oghenesive to speak on citi

The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Communications, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, will be one of the speakers in the 2018 Delta Civil Society Day, slated for Friday 14th December, 2018.

Oghenesivbe, a renowned political communication strategist and Fellow of the Civilian Institute of Democratic Administration (F.CIDA), will be speaking on the topic “Citizens Vigilance Against Institutional Election Rigging.”

According to press release by the organizers, this year’s event is tagged: “Election 2019: Making Citizens Vote Count; The Challenge before INEC, Political Parties, Security Agencies, The Media, Election Monitors and other Stakeholders. What the Civil Society must do”.

The event shall take place at the Press Centre, Government House, Asaba from 11am to 4pm.

The EA Communications in a statement by his Media Aide, Paul Okorodudu said the 2019 general elections may spring both pleasant and unpleasant surprises which is why it is mandatory for all stakeholders, especially political parties and the civil society groups to do the needful in the area of full-scale sensitization of eligible voters, so as not to be swayed by vote buying and other anti democratic inducements.

“EA Communications to the Governor of Delta State has graciously accepted the invitation to attend the 2018 Delta State Civil Society Day; as Special Guest of Honour/Facilitator and shall do justice to the assigned topic,” the statement added.

Other renowned speakers, political leaders, key members of civil society groups, representatives of political parties as well as top government functionaries are expected to be in attendance.
