The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Elder Omeni Sobotie, has strongly condemned a recent article published by The Pond News titled “2027: Oborevwori's Ambition in Muddy Waters – Investigation.”
Describing the piece as “a desperate fiction peddled by fading politicians,” the APC dismissed the report as a sponsored smear campaign fueled by anonymous sources, fabricated claims, and the bitterness of political has-beens struggling to remain relevant.
In a strongly worded statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo Esq., the party stated emphatically that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s 2027 gubernatorial ambition is not under threat but “cast in stone” and enjoying wide grassroots and national support.
“The publication is a failed propaganda stunt aimed at discrediting the growing popularity and unstoppable momentum behind Oborevwori’s ambition,” the statement read.
The party noted that Oborevwori’s entrance into the APC was legitimate, strategic, and endorsed by both the national leadership and the Presidency. His overwhelming endorsement at the South-South APC Stakeholders Meeting in Benin City and other grassroots gatherings is proof of his wide acceptability.
Reacting to claims of division within the party, Delta APC described the allegations of sidelining old members as laughable hypocrisy coming from those who sabotaged the party during the last elections. “Delta APC is not anyone’s personal estate,” the party fired, “it belongs to the people, and the people stand with Oborevwori.”
The statement also called out political actors allegedly behind the article, accusing them of hiring ghostwriters to push false narratives. “Let it be clear: APC in Delta will not be blackmailed, manipulated, or stampeded into handing over its 2027 ticket to spent forces hiding behind ghost media campaigns.”
Despite what it termed “cowardly attacks and political desperation,” the APC affirmed its unity and focus, reiterating its commitment to a landslide victory in 2027.
To The Pond News and its “politically bankrupt paymasters,” the APC concluded with a punch:
“You can’t stop what you didn’t start. Oborevwori’s ambition is driven by performance, popularity, party structure, and the will of the people—not rented headlines or imaginary factions.”
