Delta APC reaffirms support for Senator Dafinone, dismisses recall attempt as baseless

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has firmly rejected a purported recall campaign against Senator Ede Dafinone, led by Fejiro Oliver, describing it as baseless, ill-conceived, and lacking any legitimate backing from the party its members, or a majority of Delta Central people who elected Senator Dafinone.

In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, Esq, the party emphasised that Senator Dafinone retains the full confidence and support of the APC leadership and grassroots members across Delta Central Senatorial District.

“There is no legitimate recall effort recognised or endorsed by our party or by any credible political structure in Delta Central,” said Onojeghuo. “Senator Dafinone has shown an unwavering commitment to legislative duties and continues to deliver visible results for his constituents. This campaign is not only unsubstantiated—it is a distraction.”

The party dismissed the recall move as a politically motivated effort orchestrated by individuals without party affiliation or electoral credibility. While refraining from personal attacks, the APC noted that such actions often stem from frustration and misinformation.

“The individuals behind this are not card-carrying members of our party and do not represent the views of the APC or the people of Delta Central,” the statement continued. “This is a clear case of political opportunism aimed at derailing the impactful work Senator Dafinone is doing.”

Senator Dafinone, who was elected in 2023, has reportedly gained positive reviews from constituents for his legislative engagement, constituency outreach, and efforts in attracting developmental projects to the district.

“Since taking office, Senator Dafinone has exceeded expectations in his performance. His commitment to public service and development has earned him commendations, not criticism, from the people he represents,” said a senior APC official in Sapele who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The APC leadership further urged constituents to focus on unity and progress rather than what it termed “politically motivated distractions,” and called on party members to remain steadfast in their support for elected officials working in the interest of the people.

“The people of Delta Central are politically aware and cannot be misled by unfounded narratives,” Onojeghuo added. “The APC stands firmly behind Senator Dafinone as he continues to serve with integrity and purpose.”

The party reiterated its commitment to promoting accountability, transparency, and developmental politics in Delta State, calling on all stakeholders to reject divisive tactics and work together toward a stronger and more united APC.
