The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has directed that all Local Government stakeholders’ meetings convened to drive the ongoing e-registration exercise must hold strictly at approved public venues, warning against the use of private residences.
The directive, issued by the party’s state leadership, follows an earlier instruction mandating Local Government Party Chairmen and Local Government Council Chairmen to convene stakeholders’ meetings to boost mobilisation for the e-registration process.
In a statement signed on Thursday, by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, Esq., said he was “directed by the State Chairman of our great Party, Elder Omeni Sobotie, to inform all Local Government Party Chairmen that such stakeholders’ meetings must be convened strictly” at designated venues.
According to the statement, approved venues include “the Local Government Party Secretariat; the Local Government Council Hall (where available); or a publicly accessible event centre within the local government headquarters.”
The party leadership stressed that “on no account should any stakeholders’ meeting be held at the private residence of any individual, regardless of status or position,” underscoring the need for openness in the process.
Onojeghuo explained that the directive is aimed at “ensuring transparency, inclusiveness, neutrality and proper coordination of the e-registration mobilisation process across the state,” urging all Local Government Party Chairmen to comply strictly.
Reaffirming its resolve, the Delta APC said it “remains committed to the successful conduct of the e-registration exercise” and called on party officials and stakeholders to “adhere faithfully to party directives in the collective interest of strengthening the Party at all levels.”
