By Ovasa Ogaga,
A fresh crisis has erupted within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Agbarha Ward, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, as some of Agbarha Ward leaders in Chief Ominimini Christopher Obiuwevbi's camp announced the suspension of 10 party leaders and members over alleged anti-party activities and internal sabotage.
In a resolution dated March 31, 2026, and addressed to the APC Chairman in Ughelli North LGA, the factional ward executives said the affected members were suspended “with immediate effect.” "In line with the APC Constitution article 21, subsection 1, 2 & 3,... bordering on offences of anti party activities, factionalization of the party, flouting rules and regulations, causing division and acrimony among party members, disobedience to party directives, giving wrong informations, floating rules, regulations and decisions of the party, engaging in dishonest practices, alteration of delegates list, tempering with the the process of internal democracy of the party and gross misconduct."
The letter stated that the suspension was based on “anti-party activities, factionalization of the party, flouting rules and regulations, causing division and acrimony among party members, disobedience to party directives, engaging in dishonest practices, alteration of delegates' list, tampering with the process of internal democracy… and gross misconduct.”
Those affected leaders and members include Chief Surv. Terry Noah, an APC leader in Ughelli North, Barr. Charles Oniyere, a Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor, Chief Lucky Ofomukoro, APC Chairman Ughelli North, Chief Alfred Onavwa, Chief Bestman Itive, Obus Sylvester Emoefe, Christopher Imoninu, Murphy Ohwogaga, Hon. Peace Emoefe, and Chief Christabel Obiuwevbi.
The resolution was jointly signed by Mr. Morrison Aruoture (Chairman), Mr. Umufo Joseph (Secretary), Mr. Obuiwevwi Alex (Youth Leader), and Mrs. Omojero Blessing (Woman Leader).
Recall that the Agbarah Ward Executive Committee of the party had, on Monday, March 30, 2026, at an emergency meeting, allegedly suspended Chief Christopher Ominimini Obiuwevbi, Chief David Ohwoekevwo, Morrison Arouture, and others over alleged misconduct and activities deemed inconsistent with the party’s constitution.
They also accused Chief Obiuwevbi and his camp of engaging in actions such as “running a parallel party structure,” which it described as conduct “capable of creating division and rancour among party loyalists.”
However, in a dramatic twist, the Obiuwevbi-led ward executive dismissed an earlier suspension reportedly issued against key party figures in their camp, describing it as illegal and without authority. It declared that the purported suspension of Chief Ominimini Christopher Obiuwevbi, Chief David Ohwoekevwo, and Mr. Morrison Aruoture was “null and void,” insisting that those behind it lacked the constitutional powers to take such action.
The letter accused the individuals involved in the counter-suspension of being former PDP ward executives who “unlawfully converted themselves into APC ward exco,” alleging that they had only recently defected to the party.
Providing context, the Obiuwevbi-led ward leadership highlighted the role of Chief Ominimini Obiuwevbi in the party’s success during the 2023 general elections, describing him as a central figure in mobilisation and coordination across Delta Central.
“He worked assiduously to deliver the party… where the party produced the President, Senator, a House of Representatives member and many House of Assembly members,” the letter noted, adding that he served in multiple collation roles and later as a key witness in election tribunals.
The leadership also defended Chief David Ohwoekevwo, described as the immediate past ward chairman, and Mr. Morrison Aruoture, the current ward chairman and former campaign coordinator, noting their contributions to the party’s victories in the area.
The statement further alleged that those now creating divisions were once political opponents during the 2023 elections, claiming they “campaigned against us while we were working for President Tinubu… and even clashed with us during campaigns and collation of results.”
Questioning their motives, the Obiuwevbi-led ward executive accused the group of attempting to destabilise the party structure following their defection, stating: “We are very sure… they have come to destroy rather than to join hands together with existing APC leaders to build the party.”
Reaffirming their position, the ward leadership maintained that the suspension of the 10 members remains in effect, urging the public and party faithful to take note.
