As Nigerians make efforts to stay free over the dreaded Coronavirus outbreak, the chairman of Festus Pemu Initiative for Social Development and Peace Building’ in Sapele, Delta State, Hon Festus Pemu Akponofuo at the weekend handed out face mask and hand-sanitizers to residents of Sapele Community.
The Delta Central and Community leader gave out the face mask and sanitizers to people for free, as many stores in the timber town has hiked the prices of hand sanitizers and face masks in the last few days.
Embarking on a massive sensitization drive across Sapele metropolis, with a town crier, from Amukpe market to Okirighwre, down to Koko garage, Sapele main market and Olympia roundabout, Pemu distributed the materials while educating them on the precautionary measures to enable them protect themselves from the deadly Corona-virus, (Covid-19)
Pemu while answering questions from Newsmen said safety is like security “it’s a thing that has to do with everybody and in our own little way add support to whatever measures the state government and Federal government has put in place to curb this menace” adding that he was motivated by his plight for the indigent.
“It’s my little way of giving back to the society and I want them to understand that the disease is real, I want them to stay alive”.
Residents also expressed satisfaction to Pemu for reaching out to vulnerable people in the society. They however called on other notable and highly placed individuals in the society to take a cue from his noble gesture.
