Court Injunctions, Not Plateau Govt Stopping Swearing of APC Lawmakers – Gov’s Aide

In an interview with the Special Adviser on Strategic Communications to Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, the ongoing crisis in the state’s House of Assembly and its impact on governance were discussed.

The delay in swearing-in the 16 APC and Labour Party lawmakers has been attributed to court injunctions, not the state government.

The 16 PDP lawmakers were sacked by the Court of Appeal, which gave judgment in favor of the APC lawmakers.

However, the swearing-in has been halted by two injunctions, one from the Labour Party and another from a civil society organization in the state.

The Speaker read out the two injunctions to the public, and the government cannot go against such an injunction.

Despite the crisis, the House of Assembly is still functioning, with eight members sitting and taking decisions.

The house has been moved to the Government House due to renovation, and the government is hopeful that the courts will resolve the issue soon.

The recent appointment of over 200 media aides by Governor Mutfwang has sparked controversy, but the government maintains that it is mindful of the cost of governance.

The appointees are not just media managers, but communication agents who will pass the message of government to the grassroots.

They can defend the government where necessary, but they are not expected to engage in propaganda.

A stakeholder forum of the APC extended an invitation to Governor Mutfwang to join the party to align the state government with the APC-led federal government.

However, the governor’s aide dismissed this invitation, stating that the APC should join them as they are the ones in power.

Many APC members have defected to the PDP, and the government is welcoming them.

The governor is working tirelessly to address the security crisis in the state.

When you inherit a problem, it cannot be solved in one day, but the new measures are working, and the level of reconciliation and reunion is fast returning to the state.
