...Calls on Gowon, Obasanjo, Anyaoku, Afenifere, Others to Boycott Event
The family and children of the late nationalist and elder statesman, Chief Sen. Edwin Clark, have disassociated themselves from a tribute and prayer ceremony slated for Thursday, May 1, 2025, in Lagos — branding the event as “satanic” and a blatant insult to their father’s memory.
In a fiery press release signed by Prof. College Clark and Mr Penawe Clark on behalf of the family and children, the organisers of the event — reportedly led by Dr Bisola — were accused of hijacking the legacy of the late patriarch without consulting or informing his direct descendants.
“We the family and children of the late Nationalist and Elder statesman, Chief Sen Edwin Clark, have noticed with rude shock the publication of the event...without the awareness of the family,” the statement read. “This is not only bad but satanic.”
In a stunning revelation, the family disclosed that Chief Clark had long severed ties with Dr Bisola, the purported organiser of the Lagos tribute, before his death. “Our Father divorced Dr Bisola as a wife and sent to her in Lagos any of her properties... long before our father passed on,” they said, adding, “Our father warned all of us never to have anything to do with Dr Bisola.”
The family further questioned the motive behind the tribute, asking pointedly, “What do these organizers look for? Is it money, or what is intoxicating them in Bisola?”
They issued a strong appeal to dignitaries listed to attend the event — including former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon; ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo; former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku; Afenifere Acting Leader, Oba Oladipo Olaitan; Amb. Godknows Igali, and others — to distance themselves from the “unauthorised” gathering.
Calling the event “counterproductive and against the soul of our father,” the Clark family emphasized that official funeral activities have already been “fully published by the family.”
They concluded the release by stating, “It is never meant to honour our late father... It is also insulting to the entire family of Late Chief Clark.”

"We, the family and children of the late Nationalist and Elder statesman, Chief Sen Edwin Clark, have noticed with rude shock the publication of the event for tribute and payer to celebrate the life and times of our patriarch, tomorrow on May 1st, 2025, in Lagos without the awareness of the family and children. This is not only bad but satanic. The most shocking aspect of the publication is the listing of some of the persons who were close to our patriarch as part of the event. The question which now rings a bell in our mind is, what do these organizers look for? Is it money, or what is intoxicating them in Bisola?
"We hereby call on all true lovers, friends, and well-wishers of our Late Father to desist from attending this so-called event, as the family and children were never consulted. In fact, our Father divorced Dr Bisola as a wife and sent her to Lagos, one of her properties, which was in his house in Abuja. This happened long before our father passed on. The reasons for her divorce were so clear that no reasonable man could tolerate them. In short, our father warned all of us never to have anything to do with Dr Bisola. That anybody found relating with her shall be sanctioned.
"At death, Dr Bisola cannot claim to love the man she abandoned and never cared about whether he existed and whom she didn't regard as a husband. If this event is not targeted for self-benefit, why on earth should such an event be organised without the knowledge of the family and children?
"Conclusively, we call on all associates and followers of our father including General Ike Nwachuckwu, Obong Victor Attah, Dr Kalu Idika Kalu, Sir (Dr) Kensington Adebutu, Chief (Mrs) Nike Akande, Chief (Mrs) Maiden Ibru, Chief Goodie Ibru, Chief Wale Babalakin, Governors of the six Southwest States, Key Traditional Rulers in the Southwest and prominent Niger Delta Leaders and Groups in Southwest, among others as listed in the publication for this event not to attend this event as it is also counter-productive and against the soul of our father. It is also insulting to the entire family of Late Chief Clark. It is never meant to honour our late father. The general activities have been fully published by the family.
