Citizens wellbeing: Nasarawa Assembly assures Gov. Sule of support

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has assured Gov. Abdullahi Sule of their support to better the wellbeing of the people of the state.

Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Speaker of the Assembly, gave the assurance while announcing the passage of two executive bills during plenary in Lafia on Wednesday.

He said that the tremendous achievements recorded in the state was as a result of good relationship between the executive and the legislative arms.

Abdullahi announced the passage of a Bill for a Law to Establish the Nasarawa State Erosion, Watershed and Climate Change Agency (NASEWCCA) and Other Matters Connected Therewith.

He said that the agency would reduce the vulnerability of soil to erosion in targeted sub-catchment areas, prevent and reverse land degradation.

“A Bill for a Law to Establish the Nasarawa State Erosion, Watershed and Climate Change Agency (NASEWCCA) and Other Matters Connected Therewith third reading and passed,” he said.

He also announced the passage of a Bill for a Law to Establish the Nasarawa State Social Investment Agency charged with the responsibility of tackling poverty, ensuring equitable distribution of resources and economic growth in the state and for other matters connected therewith.

He said that the agency would tackle poverty and ensure equitable distribution of resources and economic growth for the overall development of the state.

The speaker directed the clerk of the Assembly to produce clean copies of the two bills for the governor’s assent.

Earlier, Alhaji Tanko Tunga, the Majority Leader of the House, moved the motions for the bills to scale third reading, while Mr Abel Bala, the Minority Leader, seconded the motions.

The lawmakers after debate unanimously passed the two bills.
