Breaking: Wuse Market in Abuja Engulfed in Flames, Emergency Services Respond

A section of Abuja’s renowned trading hub, Wuse Market, was engulfed in flames on Tuesday evening, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, but firefighters and security operatives were swiftly dispatched to the scene to contain the blaze and ensure the safety of those in the vicinity.

This incident follows another devastating fire that occurred on February 29, 2024, when a residential building in EFAB estate in Karsana District near Gwarinpa went up in flames.

The six-bedroom duplex on Number 9, Dr. Fabian Nwaora Street, Efab Estate, reportedly caught fire following an explosion from a drum of diesel at the back yard.

Tragically, three people were burned to death in the inferno.

As the Wuse Market fire raged on, a safety official confirmed that emergency services were working to evacuate the victims to the morgue.

Passersby and men of the Federal Fire Service FFS battled to put out the fire, highlighting the need for increased vigilance and safety measures in the area.

This latest incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety and preparedness in both residential and commercial settings.

As investigations into the cause of the Wuse Market fire continue, it is crucial for authorities and stakeholders to prioritize the safety and well-being of those who live and work in the area.
