Two clubs have dropped out of Nigeria's top flight following poor results in their penultimate matches. Wikki Tourist and Bayelsa United both lost heavily over the weekend and cannot escape the fall.

In Ikenne, Remo Stars came from behind to beat Bayelsa United 2-1. Ofem Nneoyi had put the visitors ahead in the fifth minute after exploiting a defensive lapse.

Alex Oyowah leveled matters just before halftime with a header from a free-kick. Victor Mbaoma then struck the decisive goal on 64 minutes to seal the comeback.

Bayelsa finished with 40 points, still six adrift of safety. One match remains, but their fate is already sealed after four seasons in the league.

Wikki Tourist's story was equally grim. They conceded twice in the closing stages to lose 3-2 at home to Rivers United.

Imanu Bala had restored Wikki's lead midway through the second half. But Rivers United's resurgence proved decisive, condemning the hosts to immediate relegation.

Wikki's stint in the NPFL lasted just one season. They return to the National Football League, Nigeria's second tier, after failing to survive the drop.

Coach George Finidi's Rivers United side keeps alive their title ambitions. They now trail leaders Enugu Rangers by one point heading into the final day.

Rangers beat Bendel Insurance 2-1 at the Cathedral to hold first place. That victory set up a winner-takes-all showdown in the season's concluding round.

Elsewhere on matchday, results were mixed across the league. Katsina United hammered Ikorodu City 4-1 in a dominant display.

Kwara United defeated Enyimba 2-0 in an upset result. Kano Pillars edged Warri Wolves 1-0 in a tight contest.

Abia Warriors lost 2-0 away to Kun Khalifat. Nasarawa United beat Plateau United with a 1-0 scoreline.

Shooting Stars also won 1-0 over Barau FC. Niger Tornadoes and El-Kanemi Warriors played out a goalless draw in their encounter.
