Bauchi Governor Apologizes to President’s Wife Over Death Threat

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has apologized to the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for the death threat she received from a Bauchi cleric, Sunusi Abubakar.

The governor described the threat as a national embarrassment during a visit to the palace of the Emir of Bauchi, Dr Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu.

In a viral video, the cleric had called the president’s wife an infidel who should be killed. However, he later retracted his statement.

Governor Mohammed expressed disappointment and frustration over the incident but praised Mrs. Tinubu for her courage in visiting the state despite the threat.

During her visit, Mrs. Tinubu was in Bauchi to commission the Alternative High School Initiative and ICT Centre.

She thanked the governor for assuring her of her safety and emphasized that Nigeria belongs to all its citizens, and unity is more important now than ever.

The governor, on behalf of the people of Bauchi, apologized for the national embarrassment caused by the death threat and assured that it would not happen again.

He commended Mrs. Tinubu for her bravery and resilience in the face of adversity.

The incident has sparked a broader conversation about the importance of unity, tolerance, and respect for one another in Nigeria.

It also highlights the need for leaders to address threats and divisive rhetoric to prevent further embarrassment and potential harm.
