Baba Ladan calls on employers to give importance to youth corps members’ well-being

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has urged employers to pay attention to the well-being of corps members who work for them.

Mr. Baba Ladan, the NYSC South-South Director, made this plea on Thursday, during the 2023 NYSC Corps Employers Workshop in Delta.

The workshop had the theme “Harnessing the Potential of Corps Members through Effective Utilisation: The Role of Corps Employers.”

Ladan said that taking care of their welfare would boost the corps members’ spirits and enable them to perform excellently.

“The theme was deliberately chosen to also highlight our joint responsibilities towards effective utilisation of the service of corps members during their primary and secondary assignments.

“As vital partners in the scheme, employers are responsible for providing facilities that are necessary for the welfare of corps members and the smooth operations of the scheme.

“The NYSC Corps Employers’ Workshop offers a valuable opportunity for our corps employers and NYSC management to exchange ideas on how to enhance the welfare of corps members and advance the scheme in our various communities.

“The management and facilitators of the scheme can get firsthand information about the corps employer-employee relationship as well as receive suggestions to improve the scheme’s performance, especially the productivity of corps members in their various places of primary assignment,” he said.
