Awodeha advises students against peer, parental influence in career choice 

…commends Okowa for youth empowerment

The member representing Isoko Federal Constituency at the Niger Delta Youth Parliament (NDYP), Hon. Favour Awodeha has advised Nigerian students to shun peer and parental influence in choosing a career for themselves.

Hon. Awodeha handed the advice during a two-day educational outreach/career sensitization for selected secondary schools in her constituency conducted by her office in collaboration with Keen Advocacy Struggle Initiative.

According to her students need to be intentional about their career choices, adding that there was a need for them not to downplay the role of discipline and mentorship in their career journey.

The programme which also features the distribution of educational materials such as notebooks and others to the students, she noted, was just one of the many programmes outlined by her office to empower and encourage the youths in her constituency.

She commended the Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for carrying the youths along in empowerment and talent development across the state.

Hon. Awodeha maintained that the Niger Delta Youth Parliament was committed to changing the narratives that youths are mostly associated with protest, restiveness and other vices, adding that they are ready to collaborate with the Niger Delta Governors to develop talents and change the focus of youths for a better future in all endeavours including politics.

Also speaking, the representative of Keen Advocacy Struggle Initiative, Precious Oghenekaro said they were ready to partner with any initiative that will improve and better the lives of the Nigerian youths.

The beneficiary schools include Oketa Grammar School, Ofage, Alaka Grammar School, Ozoro, both in Isoko North Local government area, Emiye Girls Grammar School, Oleh and Uzere Grammar School in Isoko South Local government area of Delta State.

In their separate remarks, the principals of the schools commended Hon. Favour Awodeha and her team for putting such a programme for the students, noting that receiving such talks and materials from youths like themselves will encourage and inspire them to be better ambassadors of the society.
