Representatives of Atiku Abubakar held talks with aides of US Congressman Riley Moore this week. The discussions touched on Nigeria's electoral integrity and mounting security threats before 2027.
Von Batten-Montague-York, a Washington lobbying firm, disclosed the meeting on Thursday. According to the firm, both sides emphasised protecting Nigerians' voting rights and ensuring transparent elections.
Atiku is pursuing the African Democratic Congress presidential nomination for next year's general election. He's already positioned himself as a candidate who can restore stability to the country.
The firm called the engagement productive in a statement posted online. Discussions centred on election credibility, peace and Nigeria's long-term political future.
Von Batten-Montague-York warned that international observers are monitoring developments closely. It expressed concern about alleged attempts to compromise the electoral process.
"We are pleased to announce that representatives of Congressman Riley Moore and former Nigerian Vice President Atiku met to discuss the importance of protecting every Nigerian's right to a free and fair election," the statement noted.
Improving security and governance came up repeatedly during the engagement. Nigerians deserve to live without fear of violence or abduction, the firm stressed.
Atiku signed a $1.2 million lobbying agreement in March 2026. The deal was meant to strengthen his international network and shape policy conversations in Washington.
